Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
MoveOut Shield is operated by Paul Grant, based in the United States. You can reach us at support@moveoutshield.app.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the MoveOut Shield mobile application ("the App").
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to:
- Your name, email address, or any account information (no account is required)
- The photos you take within the app
- Your inspection notes, room conditions, or report data
- Your GPS location data
- Your device identifier or advertising ID
- Any analytics or usage data
All data you create in MoveOut Shield remains on your device, in the app's private storage sandbox. It is not accessible to us or to any third party.
3. Device Permissions We Request
Camera. We request camera access so you can photograph rooms and items in your rental unit. Photos are saved directly to the app's local storage on your device. They are never uploaded to any server.
Location (GPS). We request location access to attach GPS coordinates to your photos as metadata. This creates a verifiable record of where and when photos were taken, which strengthens their value as documentation. Location data is embedded in the photo file only — it is not transmitted, logged, or stored separately by the app.
Photo Library. On iOS, with your permission, the app can save a copy of your inspection photos to a "MoveOut Shield" album in your Photos library so you have easy access to them outside the app. On Android, photos are saved to a "MoveOut Shield" album in your device's Pictures folder.
All permissions are optional. The app functions without them, though with reduced documentation capability. You can revoke permissions at any time in your device Settings.
4. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. No third party receives any data from your use of the App.
The only external services involved are:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — for app distribution, subject to their own privacy policies
- Google Fonts — the app loads display fonts from Google Fonts CDN when an internet connection is available. This is a standard font delivery request and does not include any user data.
5. Children's Privacy
MoveOut Shield is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The App is intended for adults who are renters or property managers.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Because we do not collect your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. All app data is stored in the app's local storage on your device. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the App.
7. California Residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have rights regarding their personal information. Because MoveOut Shield does not collect personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. Specifically:
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising
- We do not have personal information to disclose, correct, or delete on our end
For questions, contact us at support@moveoutshield.app.
8. International Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under GDPR. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not act as a data controller or processor of your personal data within the meaning of GDPR. All data is processed locally on your device, under your control.
9. Security
Your data is stored in the app's private sandbox on your device, which is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, encryption at rest). We cannot access this data even if we wanted to.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify users of material changes through an in-app notice or App Store update notes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
